Maui Fair commissioned portrait 3 day build with fair goers

The 97th Maui Fair was not slated to be the last year of the fair but when Covid hit the following year, the fair was halted indefinitely.

The 97th Maui Fair, held just before the unprecedented global disruption caused by COVID-19, marked a poignant chapter in the fair’s storied history. Traditionally a vibrant celebration of the island’s community spirit and cultural diversity, this event showcased everything from local cuisine and live music to art exhibits and agricultural displays. Highlights included the colorful parades, the exhilarating rides, and the various competitions that brought together residents and visitors alike in a festive atmosphere.

Lego ‘ice cream’ brick sculpture

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation designating July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day, recognizing ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by over 90 percent of the nation’s population. In the proclamation, Reagan called for citizens to observe these events with “appropriate ceremonies and activities.” This declaration acknowledged the cultural significance and economic contribution of ice cream in the United States, highlighting the joy and community it brings to people of all ages. Today, National Ice Cream Day is celebrated with enthusiasm across the country.

What better way to celebrate ‘ice cream day’ than with a large ice cream lego made from Lego brand building bricks. This design included a simple internal structure in order to make it durable enough to transport and carry. ‘Structure is everything’ when creating lego art.
